Hoshii TV: Culture
S1 E1 · What is FILCO?
The International Book Fair of Coyoacán (FILCO) is one of the most prominent literary gatherings in Latin America, with the mission of spreading the culture, history, and art of Mexico through books. In its 2025 edition, Japan was the guest country and Coahuila the guest state. Reporter Isaac Salgado from HoshiiTV toured the fair interviewing participants such as a samurai who shared the virtues of bushido, independent Mexican publishers like Familia Usaka, Chipotle, and international projects like NBK Libros and Happy Science. The presence of the bookstore El Rincón de Macondo, which brings together dozens of authors and artistic projects, was also highlighted. FILCO was held from March 7 to 16, with special activities such as the presentation of the J-Pop band Bakemono and a talk by Julieta Fierro on astronomy.
